Healthy 7-Year-Old Boy Goes To Sleep, Mom Panics When He Doesn’t Wake Up For 11 Days
Imagine going to sleep like you always do and then waking up to find that between then and now 11 days have passed! It’s scary, to say the least. But what’s even scarier is when doctors and medical experts fail to pinpoint the problem. Sounds like something that one would watch on Ripley’s Believe it or not! A 7-year-old boy went through the same ordeal when he, after a long day of dancing and having fun at a wedding, went to bed and sleep for a full 11 days. Needless to say, his loved ones panicked, and a variety of treatments were tried but in vain. It not only shocked his parents but also medical experts who were at a loss for words. This shows how complex the human body is and how things happen which even science cannot explain.
When Wyatt Shaw became ring bearer at a wedding in October, little did he know what was in store for him. He celebrated and according to his grandmother, Rhonda Thompson was a boy who had the sweetest nature. He was fine when he fell asleep, though a bit early because the day had been tiring.
The next morning, Amy Shaw, Wyatt’s mother tried waking him up but she soon realized something wasn’t right. Wyatt woke up for a few seconds and complained of a stomach ache and headache. Every she woke him up, he fell asleep.
Amy took Wyatt to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville and initially the doctors suspected an illness caused by a bacteria or virus. This was also the same place where the 7-year-old continued his sleep for 10 more straight days with small bouts of movement in between.
The doctors were surprised when the test results came back negative. Everything looked fine. They then prescribed medication meant for treating seizures. Slowly, Wyatt woke up, but he is yet to talk and walk like he used to.
The doctors are baffled by the entire episode and they feel someday they might be able to give a clear explanation as to what truly happened with Wyatt. If they don’t, the mystery might find itself in the books with the Bermuda Triangle and Stonehenge someday.
